Hi Friends! Happy Monday! I had the hardest time deciding what to title this post. How do you put a name on possibly the best bite you’ve ever made? Apple Cream Pie, Caramel Apple Pie, Caramel Apple Cream Pie, Caramel Apple and Cream Pie with Caramel Pecan Struesel Topping…That’s way too long, but the best of them all. Seriously, you guys, when I baked this pie and took a warm bite out of the oven, it may be the best thing I have ever made. I also knew that I had better share it or I would eat the entire thing!
It was like my childhood all wrapped up in one bite (or slice of pie because I couldn’t eat just one bite!) I grew up in a little old house in a quaint little neighborhood where you could ride bikes without worrying and you knew all of your neighbors. I happened to know all of them and visited them often…I walked home from school and my mom always knew I would be a little late because I stopped by a sweet little couple’s house to chat about my day and eat candy out of a jar on their counter.
My next door neighbors were like another set of grandparents and I loved sneaking over there when I was upset with my parents. Or to help her clean because she actually let me spray the bottle of window cleaner. She always had a jar of cinnamon bears on her counter and a drawer full of fudge stripe cookies…my mom never bought these treats! Then, when I was 7ish, a young couple moved in across the street and they had…a parrot! A real talking parrot! And an entire closet full of stickers! You better believe I loved visiting their house! She was an amazing baker too…
See a theme here…many of my childhood memories revolve around sharing food…and lots of chatting…I’ve always been a bit of a chatterbox. And all of these amazing ladies just listened as I chattered and fed me at the same time…
During the holidays, I always get a bit nostalgic (can you tell?)…I love to bake goodies, especially to share. This recipe was inspired by a pie my neighbor across the street shared with us…It has always been a favorite of mine and is amazing as is. This twist takes it a whole other level with the addition of Smucker’s Caramel Topping from Target…

- I used real unsalted butter, pure vanilla, fresh farm eggs, and a combination of Johnathan and Gala apples.
- May use walnuts in place of pecans, although nuts can be completely omitted and pie is still amazing!
- Drizzle a little extra Salted Caramel Topping over top when serving to add that Wow factor- plus it's delicious!
See that Salted Caramel Topping…I may have licked the spoon! It was amazing out of the jar!
Bakes right into the apples…
And that topping…
Little did all of these women know what they were showing and teaching me about the kind of woman I hoped to become…
