Hello there friends! It’s been so hot around here that it has taken me a while longer than usual to get into the Fall spirit…Cooler temps and a little Pumpkin Spice in my Scentsy and I’m itching to fallify the house. I like to decorate with fall decor that can be left up through Thanksgiving. My kiddos love the cute Halloween decorations, so I add a few of those too.
While flipping through a recent Pottery Barn Kids Catalog, I spotted this darling sign with a not-so-darling price tag. I knew it would be so easy to make.
Easy…and quick too…like Craft Lightning 15 minutes or less kind of quick…
Don’t believe me, well just see for your self…
Supplies you’ll need:
Scrap wood, paint, paintbrush, vinyl ghost and lettering cutouts, paint pen and sandpaper.
Let’s see how fast we can make this sign (Note: the 15 minutes does not allot for drying time)…
Piece of wood painted white…Vinyl cutouts made with my Cricut machine…
Rub the vinyl BOO! letters and ghost onto the board…
Paint over the vinyl decals with black paint. I used chalkboard paint for a matte finish…I painted two thin coats- first vertically, then horizontally…Make sure to paint the sides of the board (I forgot and had to go back and do this step.)
You don’t have to use a perfect paintbrush for this- the imperfections give added texture to the paint…
Once the paint has dried, peel off the decals…
Then, add the Ghost X-Ing by applying vinyl letters right on top of the paint.
I sanded all the edges of the board…
For the dots around the edge, I just made a little line of dots using an orange Elmer’s paint pen all the way around the board.
Let the dots dry and enjoy a super cute non-spooky Halloween sign…
It’s not an exact replica, but it’s pretty close…for the price difference, I’ll decorate with my version any-day!
So many other fun Craft Lightning Halloween Projects you won’t want to miss!
Happy Fall…
This is just adorable! Thanks for joining!
Love how simple it is to DIY this sign!!
