Home for the Holidays sign and mantel

Hello Friends!

Today I’m excited to share a fun Holiday project inspired by one of my favorite Holiday songs.  And…since I never shared a Christmas Home Tour, you’ll get a peek at my mantel.   After you see my project, you’ll have to check out the nine other darling projects created by some of my super talented friends… Holiday Mantel- OneKriegerChick.com There’s no place like home, for the holidays…don’t you agree?

I really wanted to create a sign for my mantel that could stay up beyond Christmas.  The chalkboard can easily be removed and replaced with a different piece of art.  I already have something in mind.

Let’s get started…I picked up a piece of 24 x 24 plywood and painted it first with a coat of light gray paint, followed by a coat of cream paint.
supplies Then I created a stencil using my Cricut machine, attached it with painters tape, and painted in the lines using a stencil brush.  The key to keep the paint from bleeding under the paper is to use a little bit of paint.  You can always add more, but it’s much harder to take it away.  The paint is a dark charcoal, although it looks kind of navy in some of the photos. Fonts used are Channel for the cursive and Cricut Classic for HOME.
