14 VALENTINE'S DAY PROJECTS

Hello Friends!  Typically I jump aboard the pink and red Valentines train since it is the only time during the year I can decorate with pink.  Not sure what happened to me this year, but I’m decorating with mostly neutrals.

Today, I’m sharing how I created my DIY Pottery Barn inspired Yarn Heart.

This was my inspiration…

See that fun yarn heart sitting on the shelf…Cute, right?  But, it’s not for sale…So I made one myself…

Here’s how…Supplies needed:  cardboard or other sturdy board, yarn and cutting utensil (exacto knife or sharp blade)

Yarn Heart Supplies

Start by tracing or drawing a heart onto cardboard and cutting it out with an exacto knife or other sharp blade. I cut out two and glued them together.  I imagine the pottery barn heart was cut from wood, but two pieces of cardboard creates the perfect thickness.

Making a Yarn Heart  To start, tape the yarn onto the back of the heart to help keep it in place while you work.

Then, start wrapping yarn.  You can see in the pictures that I went back and forth rather than in one direction all the way around the heart.  Why?  The yarn kept slipping.  Continue wrapping the yarn around the heart until it is completely covered, then tie a knot in the back 0f the heart.

Now, decorate as you like…Attach it to an arrow…or leave it as is…Either way, it’s fun, festive and unique…

I’ll be sharing how it fits in my mantle decor tomorrow! And how to make these fun arrows…

I love target cause I don’t live near one and they have such a unique style of everything they offer compared to Walmart (which I love too but…)
