Hello Friends! Did you see these DIY Glittered Reindeer when I posted over at Carissa Miss?
Today, I’m going to share with you how I made these FUN Gold Glitter Reindeer…perfect for Holiday decor! Or really anywhere…if your family is as into deer as my boys are…
Okay…Let’s get started…
What you’ll need:
- Thin cardboard (notebook backing is perfect)
- Exacto knife and scissors
- Spray adhesive
- Fine glitter (I used Michaels Recollections)
- Satin Finish (or other spray sealant)
Let’s Make Some Reindeer…
I started by sketching out the deer body and legs. Then, I copied and changed the sizes. If you are talented on the computer, you can probably create a digital image and print it out. Unfortunately, I haven’t figured that out yet.
I cut out my pattern and traced it onto the thin cardboard. This is just the back of notebook.
Using an exacto knife, I cut out the deer images. Scissors will work too, but I did not want to tear or bend my image. Make sure to cut a small slit to allow the legs to slide onto the deer body. I actually ended up cutting it a little wider than what is shown. Otherwise, it bends and the glitter slides off.
Once they were all cut out, I sprayed them (one side at a time) with spray adhesive. Then I gave them a healthy sprinkling of gold glitter. Allow the first side to dry completely before flipping over. Flip over and repeat the spraying and glittering. Allow to dry. To keep from losing the glitter, apply a thin coat of sealant (like Satin Finish by Krylon) and a second coat of glitter- if you want extra sparkle!
Then, attach the pieces by sliding the legs onto the body.
Fun, huh…And they are not just for Holiday Decor. You can leave them out all Winter! Love decorations like that!
