Hello Friends!
Today I am sharing one of our favorite family traditions…I started this last year and it was such a hit that I had to make it even better this year!
Not only does it look SO much prettier, but I bought some new books to add to our collection!
I love having seasonal books and always keep a basket of them in the living room. I find if books are easy to access, my boys will read all the time. One of my favorite sights is when I find my boys curled up reading…often to each other…even though not one of them can read yet…so cute!
Here is the simple Book Advent I put together last year.
This year, I found the perfect FREE printable tags {HERE} and all I had to do was add some fun ribbons and tape them to my wrapped books.
I wrap them all randomly, so it is always a surprise to see which book is opened.
Last year, I just used books we already had, but this year I couldn’t resist adding a few new ones to the collection.
These are the books I wrapped up:
- There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow by Lucille Colandro
- There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell by Lucille Colandro
- The Hat by Jan Brett
- The Mitten by Jan Brett
- Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett
- Mooseletoe by Margie Palatini
- The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats
- Snowmen At Night by Caralyn Buehner
- Snowmen All Year by Caralyn Buehner
- Snowmen At Christmas by Caralyn Buehner
- Merry Christmas Ollie by Olivier Dunrea
- The Best Christmas Ever by Dave Ramsey
- Auntie Claus by Elise Primavera
- If You Take a Mouse to the Movies by Laura Numeroff
- Christmastime is Here (Little People Lift the Flap book)
- Christmastime in the Big Woods (Little House Books)
- Biggest Snowman Ever by Elizabeth Bennet
- The Biggest Best Snowman by Margery Cuyler
- Snow Family by Daniel Kirk
- Snow Place Like Home by Diana Manning
- Bear Stays Up For Christmas by Karma Wilson
- Baby Jesus is Born (Arch Books)
- The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg
- Pete the Cat Saves Christmas by Eric Litwin
Twenty-four books is a lot to purchase all at once, so Not all of them are specifically Christmas books…Some are Winter books. I have been picking up books at garage sales and through the Scholastic school book order. Each time I buy a Christmas book, I replace one of the Winter books.
My boys are already trying to open them up…Hope I can hold them off until December 1st!
