Yep…You read it correctly. These are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tried. They are baked on the edge and soft in the middle and remind me of the fresh baked cookies in a Subway restaurant. I may have eaten each cookie in the picture…I cannot tell you how many times the recipe has been requested. I keep this cookbook on my counter at all times and is usually open to this recipe. I should have it memorized by now! {and did I mention I have never been a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies!}
But…the recipe is not originally mine. Last year, I helped my sister with a vender event and the woman in the booth next to us was selling cookbooks and handing out one of these cookies with each purchase. It wasn’t just any cookbook, though. The cookbook, A Little Slice of Jaden’s Journey, is a a compilation of Julie York’s family recipes put together to help raise money for the care of her son. You can read the full story about Jaden’s Journey here.

{Printable version} Simply the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
1 c. butter flavor Crisco
½ c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, beaten
2 ½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt (I omit)
½ package chocolate chips (use more if desired)
Directions:
Cream Crisco, sugars and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Add chocolate chips and combine.
Drop by large Tablespoons onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I use my Medium Pampered Chef Scoop and it makes the perfect size cookie!
Bake at 360 degrees for 9-10 minutes. Do not over bake!
Enjoy!
Notes: I use farm fresh eggs, real vanilla and mini semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Thanks Leslie…Now you know my secret!
They sound yummy! What a great idea to give out cookies. I’m sure that helped her sell a lot more cookbooks. Of course, it’s nice to buy something that goes to good cause as well.
So true! I think more people went into her booth because of the cookies…smart marketing!
Thanks for stopping by…Hope you like the cookies as much as we do!
